Look, gentleman! The first baseball post of the season!

I just came across a fascinating utility by Ben Fry that charts an MLB team's performance vs. their payroll. Data has been updated for 2006. You can drag the bar at the top from left to right to move through the season. Very interesting stuff. For instance, on April 29 you can see that Cincinnati had a huge return on investment, sitting at 17-7 with a payroll of $59,162,015. Contrast that with the Yankees, whose $198,662,180 payroll only managed a modest 12-10 record.
